
Red Deer Crane Operator Classes - Crane operator training is for supervisors and operators of overhead lifting machine. The course is suitable for both new and current operators. Course content deals with applicable federal, provincial and state safety regulations. The first component of training comprises complete in-class instruction and test. Following that is a customized hands-on session with practical lessons and evaluation.
Course content applies to all types and categories of overhead lifting machinery. Particular instruction will concentrate on aspects of crane operation used at the workplace of the trainee. Upon finishing the course, trainees would know how to operate specific overhead lifting machines, related components and attachments safely and efficiently.
The operator course's goal is to first identify and potentially dangerous operator habits which may develop when a person operates an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products could be prevented with correct habits. Training reduces the likelihood of a workplace injury or incident occurring.
The course would encompass roughly eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of hands-on customized, on-site training. Participants are graded on their knowledge of training material via written tests and an evaluation of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is 80 percent.
The in-class session, the trainee would be taught about causes of damages and occurrences, legislation and guidelines, internal responsibility, danger awareness, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, basic equipment and design principles, safe hosting/operating methods, pre-shift equipment inspections, equipment applications/rigging, types of hardware, hitches and angles, pedestrian/operator safety, hand signals for slingers and operators, turning/flipping loads safely.
The practical training and evaluation portion of the course should be pre-scheduled. This customized part of the training would be held at the trainees' facility. The length of this practical training part is an hour or two. The instructor will train two operators at a time on skills such as planning the lift, right rigging practices and safe operation.
Upon completing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee would write an exam. Signed safety rules would be needed from each participant. Successful trainees will be provided with individual wallet certificates. The company would be given a framed wall certificate.
